When Husbands Cook

This time of year, if you’re like us, you’re SO busy! (And by busy, I mean we’ll come up with just about any reason not to start cleaning up Christmas.)

Take today for instance; I was so busy playing Words With Friends and avoiding all adult responsibility, that my dear, sweet husband realized he’d better get up and make us breakfast. In bed. (Did I mention he’s super smart and intuitive?)

Our littlest daughter is kind of a demanding girl…(where does she get that)….most meals are chosen around what she’ll eat. This breakfast was no different. Luckily, we have a list of “safe” foods that she always loves. Two absolute wins are chocolate..(where does she get that)…and cherries. Specifically, Cherry Man Cherries. (I was introduced to these tasty little gems by a friend, and brought some home for our family to try.  There hasn’t been another brand of cherries in the house since that day, like, ever. They are SO good! We’ve used them in baking, cocktails, desserts and on ice cream.)

But I digress. We’re talking about breakfast here. In bed.

The hubs went into the kitchen and whipped up this highly amazing dish in nothing flat. I gotta say, I was impressed. Also, I did not have to cook.

YUM roll please……

aaah…. So good! Tastebuds firing on all cylinders. Happy child, happy me, happy family.

I now share his recipe with you.  It’s our little way of making the world a better place…

…because everything’s better with a cherry on top! Especially breakfast.

In bed.

Ingredients:

Your favorite pancake mix, prepared (we like Bisquick Heart Healthy Baking Mix)

1/2 cup chopped Cherry Man Cherries, without stems

1/2 cup Nestle Toll House chocolate chips

Baking Spray (like Pam, or your favorite brand)

Add the tasy mix-ins to your pancake batter, and cook them up as you normally would. The chocolate chips get all melty and gooey, and the cherries get warm and even tastier, these are just delicious! They don’t even need syrup, but a little of the juice from the cherry jar adds a yummy touch.

I should tell you, I’m not usually very rigid about what brands my ingredients are, but this recipe is NOT the same using just any brand of cherries; they’ve got to be Cherry Man. We buy ours through Amazon, and recommend you try them too!
